Do Not Disturb

I know there are large number of people who do not use the Do Not Disturb feature on their phones. But I am not one of them. In fact, I have various scenario set ups that change who is allowed to contact me when it is in that mode, and what alerts can actually get to my phone.
I know it seems silly to have it set up that way if I am still going to be actively using my phone for other things, but sometimes, I just need to not have the alerts on while my phone is NOT on silent.
Shawn works too far away to keep my phone constantly on silent--sometimes he needs me to look something up for him, or wants to check in on the girls, or just wants to talk. I don't want the call to be missed so "silent" doesn't work.
But there are times when I don't want to be in the loop. I don't want to chat with anyone else. I don't want to be contacted. I don't have the capacity to manage the emails or the text messages or the phone calls. So I flip my phone on DND.

And yes, I might get back to you via one of the Social Media Channels, and ignore your text message. But that's literally because I signed on and chose to interact with Social Media. It's not that I am ignoring you--I'm ignoring all the texts and alerts. It's not personal. It's usually survival.
Or I'm homeschooling.
Or I'm trying to finish balancing the budget or taking care of some other home management computer task.
Or I'm trying to get the kitchen/bathroom/bedroom/living room deep cleaned.
Or I'm trying to just focus on the kids.
Or I'm just feeling a little hermitty.
Personally, I love the DND feature. It helps to not feel like I have to respond right away because the alert isn't there so it becomes out of sight, and out of mind. It gives me the ability to break away. It silences the outside world, if only temporarily.
If you don't already use DND, I highly recommend it. & if you feel ghosted if I don't respond, don't. I probably just didn't see the message and I'll get back to you when I do. I promise.
