Extra Time with Dad

One downside to Shawn working so far away is that lunch dates with him and the kids are few and far between. It's a lot to pack the kids up and meet him on his route, because if the timing isn't right, we end up waiting a while, which is never easy with kids.
For the last few years, he was delivering in a neighborhood that wasn't really ideal for us to visit, so we only met him one time since 2020. But, last week, he got a new route in a newer and safer neighborhood with some REALLY nice parks.
It also happened to be only 15 minutes away from the chiropractor that I really like, and after 4 years of settling for chiropractors that were okay, I decided it was a perfect excuse to visit my old chiropractor AND go to eat lunch with Shawn.
The timing was a little rough since I made the appointment fairly late, but the park was so nice that the kids didn't mind waiting for Dad. They played for over 3 hours, eat lunch, and ran wild at a new park.
It was so nice to see their excitement when they would see Dad drive by, honk, and wave, before he was able to take his lunch. They would yell across the park and field to him. When he finally parked to meet us, they were uncontainable.

They ran to him, and were so excited to show him the new to them park and all the features he held. It was so nice to have a family lunch date at the park, especially knowing that we can do this again whenever we really feel like it--the route he's on isn't changing any time soon, and it's in a good place.
Sure, it's a little far, but not so far that we can't stack a few errands, bring a picnic, and enjoy his lunch break with him.
Today was a good Monday.
