Family Days

I may be in the minority, but I don't understand people who find ways to escape the time with their family on the weekends.

Even spending all day, every day with my kids, it is rare that I would chose a day away from my family than with them. It's not to say that there isn't a time and a place--I am the first person to enjoy a coffee date with a friend or a dinner out without kids. But that's not something I necessarily crave or even plan into my regular schedule.

The weekends feel sacred to me, and they feel like it's valuable time as a family that we don't get during the week.

I'm grateful that my husband also feels this way. He doesn't run off on golf trips or fantasy football excursions or a weekly night out with the boys. He spends his weekends with our daughters and me and genuinely enjoys it.

Again, it's not to say he won't go ride his dirt bike on the weekend, or go camp for a night or two. But that's a rare thing, and if the weather is nice, we're usually welcome to come along.

I know our family is someway rare, but we enjoy being with each other, going and doing things together, and spending our time with one-another.

It's not for everyone, but those weekends are family days, and we cherish them.
